"And say to Archippus, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it" (Colossians 4:17).
There is a ministry or service that you ought to fulfill to your world. And as much as some might want to second guess themselves, everything required for the fulfillment of the ministry has been granted. The only thing left for the fulfillment of your ministry is what today's theme scripture brings to our attention. It says, "Take heed to the ministry which you have received..."
Notice that it doesn't say to look for money to fulfill your ministry, wait for the right timing, or wait for others to join, acknowledge or motivate you. It says to take heed. In other words, pay attention to the ministry.
How do you pay attention to the ministry you received from the Lord? We find the answer in Acts 6:4, which says, "...we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word." Even if your ministry is in singing or ushering or videography, the way to take heed to fulfil it is by developing an obsession for prayer and the ministry of the Word.
Saint, there is no other special formula for fulfilling the mandate of God on your life apart from this. And the reason the Bible says to take heed is that so many distractions will pervade the work of your ministry. These distractions may even be legitimate. You have to earn money, be available to your family and pay attention to your personal grooming, but if these things have become so paramount to exclude prayer and the ministry of the Word from your life, you'll have to make the necessary adjustments.
As a minister that you are, set a time to pray personally, while ensuring your participation in all of our corporate prayer, and study the scriptures with a view to handing your entire thinking-frame to the Word of God. Ministry is about being a conduit for God's Spirit to human spirits, and how else can you fulfill it if not by prayer and the ministry of the Word?
God bless you!
Faith-Filled Confession
I pay attention to the needful for the fulfillment of my ministry. I refuse to be slothful about my prayer times and Bible study times. Rather, I obsess over prayer and the ministry of the Word. I am a beacon of light, and I radiate the light of God to every human Spirit that I contact in Jesus' name. Amen
Prayer Point
Colossians 4:2-4 says," Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak."
1 Corinthians 2:4-5:" And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God."
Pray for ministers of the gospel around the world in accordance with the above verses of scripture.
Pray for new doors of opportunity for ministry to be opened to them and for utterance to be granted them to proclaim the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ unhindered, without fear or reproach, but in power and effectiveness.
Pray for ministers who are facing severe persecution, that they are strengthened to stand firm in all the will of God; and pray for the deliverance of those imprisoned for their faith in Christ Jesus.
Pray for an avalanche of souls and testimonies in our forthcoming program this weekend.
