FOLLOW THE WORD

2/28/2026

“And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord” — Luke 1:45

No one is born cynical or critical of God’s Word. Yet over time, many develop doubt, skepticism, and even indifference. Often, this happens because of the voices they entertain and the examples they choose to follow. Associations shape convictions. What you consistently hear will eventually determine what you believe.

Jesus made this clear in Matthew 15:14 when He said that if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a ditch. If you follow someone who merely has a form of godliness but lacks integrity and submission to the Word, you will eventually mirror that inconsistency. Child of God, it matters who you follow—because you will become like them.

The Scripture instructs us in Hebrews 6:12 to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Notice, we are not told to imitate popularity, charisma, or appearance. We are told to imitate faith and patience—the qualities that produce results. Follow those whose lives reveal evidence of the Word working in them. Follow those who reverence God and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit.

Above all, our supreme example is Jesus.1 Peter 2:21 declares that Christ suffered for us, leaving us an example that we should follow in His steps. The word “follow” carries the meaning of imitation. This means you have both the permission and the ability to live as He lived—speaking as He spoke and acting as He acted.

You may ask, “How do I practically follow Jesus?” The answer is simple: do the Word. Jesus Himself said in John 5:19 that He only did what He saw the Father do. His life was a reflection of the Father’s will. In the same way, when you make Christ’s words and works your blueprint, you are walking in His footsteps.

If Jesus forgave, you forgive. If Jesus showed compassion, you show compassion. If Jesus spoke to storms and cast out devils, you speak with authority. Not because it feels convenient, and not because it seems logical—but because He did it first. His actions become your motivation. His Word becomes your standard. His example becomes your pattern.

When you live this way, something powerful happens: heaven backs you up. The results are no longer dependent on your ability alone. When you act because you saw it in the Word, the responsibility for the manifestation rests on God. The miraculous becomes natural because you are aligned with the Father’s will.

So I say to you—follow Jesus, not man. And if you follow anyone, ensure they have evidence of the Word in both speech and conduct. Be discerning about whose counsel you receive regarding your marriage, ministry, finances, and destiny. Jesus is more than enough.

Follow the Word. It has never failed—and it will never fail you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I walk in the footsteps of Jesus. His Word is my blueprint for living and my boundary for decision-making. I speak and act according to what I see in Christ. As I follow Him wholeheartedly, my life overflows with the manifestations of God’s miraculous power, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
