FIXATED ON THE WORD

Updated: May 17

"So keep the words of this covenant to do them, that you may prosper in all that you do” (Deuteronomy 29:9).

God has graciously provided to each of us, the opportunity and right, to determine how colorful and prosperous our lives should be. I cannot make that decision for you, and neither can you make that decision for me. In Deuteronomy 30:19, God said to the children of Israel, "Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!”

Today, God is still echoing those words: choose life; choose to live the Word life. He is still calling us to set the Word above all else. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” Hence, we must refuse to focus on the shenanigans of the devil. Instead, we must hold firmly to the Word and continue to press on with the Word.

As a Christian, you must understand that you are not like the rest of the world. While the world may be experiencing chaos, frustration, and heartache, your participation in their experiences is a choice that you make. But know that God has not called you to participate in their experiences; instead, He equipped you with what it takes to answer their cries. You, child of God, are the answer to their predicament. You are the God-factor in their world. Job 22:29 says that “When others are cast down, then thou shalt say, there is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.” So, when you see so many around you who are frustrated, know that it is a set up. You are rightly positioned for their deliverance. God has positioned you as an answer to their cries and He is counting on you to declare His Word that will bring about their miracle. I love the way the New Living Translation renders Job 22:29. It says, “If people are in trouble and you say, 'Help them,' God will save them.”

Understand your place, child of God, as the deliverer. You are in this world but not of this world. The world today has enough frustration and hopelessness and you do not need to be numbered in that experience, especially since you have what it takes to ride above the waves and bring help to others.

Therefore, I say to you, reject sickness, poverty,  frustration, and anything that contradicts your life of victory and success in Christ Jesus. Make a decision today to yield your mind and mouth to the Holy Spirit. Manage your thoughts with the Word. Pull down every vain thought that seeks to exalt itself above the knowledge of God (2 Corinthians 10:5). When you are are tempted to dwell on negative emotions and experiences of the past, open your mouth and speak forth the Word. Declare joy, long life, divine health, peace, increase, and laughter. Stay fixed on the Word of God for you and let nothing sway you away from its reality.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession:

I fix my mind and mouth on God's Word. In the midst of what may look like chaos, I declare that there is progress and advancement. I declare healing, peace, progress and prosperity in my community. I declare that God's Word prevails in Jesus' name. Amen.
