EUANGELION

06/20/2024

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come”(Matthew 24:14).

Euangelion is the root Greek word for heralding a sovereign’s message within his or her domain. It’s also the word from which the word evangelism is derived. We look at this Greek word today because it helps us with an understanding of what it means to evangelize. In the context of Matthew 24:14, it means to spread the gospel of the kingdom. Now, the implication of spreading the gospel of the kingdom as Jesus describes involves three things: a message, media, and its recipients.

We know that these three things work together to actualize God's goal which is to have a witness.

However, the word witness, in this passage of scripture,  points to the manner in which God would have us approach the delivery of the gospel. For illustration, the delivery of the gospel message should be like delivering a subpoena where the delivery of the message must happen by any means necessary.

If you have ever witnessed someone being served a subpoena or court summons, it is done by any means necessary, through every medium and method. A subpoena or writ must reach the intended party to ensure all testimonies in a court case are taken into account to avoid a faulty judgment. People ought to be "served" notice of the gospel of the Kingdom as many times as possible until they make or change their final decision in favor of the gospel.

This brings us to the media. Jesus said to you, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). This instruction is to preach by any means necessary. In antiquity, a herald or preacher might have gone into the streets, from door to door, announcing the news from a sovereign. Today, we have our mouths, social media, advertisements, clothing, and traditional media as opportunities to herald the message. By this, I mean, get on Facebook Live and share the message. Take out an ad in the local paper and share the message. Print it on T-shirts, hoodies, and hats. This is what preaching is about. Get creative about getting the message to everyone in your world.

Refuse the lie of the enemy that unless you are preaching door-to-door or in large gatherings, opportunities to preach the gospel are non-existent. There are so many ways to preach the message that can elicit conversations that lead to repentance and conversions.

What is important is that the recipients hear the gospel of the kingdom by all means necessary. In addition, we have the Holy Spirit as our helper to amplify our message so that it reaches our world with conviction and clarity.

Just so you know, the message that you have been sent to herald in the plainest words, might be found in Act 3:19, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”

The king we herald is Jesus and the mission of His kingdom to all the world is to actualize perfection. This means, broadly speaking, that everyone who accepts the gospel of His kingdom can live sickness-free, failure-proof, and full of joy. Think about this deeply. Sickness-free, failure-proof, and full of joy, and put it in your own context.

It breaks God’s heart to see so many people live below the potential that He paid for them to have because they have yet to hear the gospel. This is why we must share it by all means necessary.

Make a decision heralding the gospel today. God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am God’s preacher to my world. I have a hearing in my sphere of influence and I am proficient at disseminating the gospel of the kingdom by all means necessary. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
