"Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts." (Jeremiah 15:16)
There's an attitude you must maintain with the Word of God and it is that of a seeker. If you do not seek the Word, you won't find it. Jesus said, "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:8).
In today's theme scripture, Jeremiah says, "Your words were found, and I ate them..." (Jeremiah 15:16) meaning that Jeremiah sought the Word and when He found it, he ate it. This is the second attitude you must maintain concerning the Word is the attitude of consuming the Word voraciously not necessarily by listening but by ruminating on it through meditation. The picture here is that of a ruminant who after consuming food, settles down to regurgitate and chew it properly for digestion. Joshua 1:8 says, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
The guarantee is that if you eat the Word of God properly, it will be the joy and rejoicing of your heart. It will usher you into the authority that makes God, God. This is what Jesus meant when He said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7). When the Prophet says, as a result of eating the Word, that he is called by God's name, he is referring to the authority of God that eating the Word and becoming one with it bestows, for name in the realm of the spirit is synonymous with authority.
The import of today's theme scripture is that if you will focus on eating the word, it will not just bestow joy in your heart, it will give you divine authority such that whatever you desire will be done for you. Go for the Word.
Have a blessed day!
Faith-Filled Confession
I seek the Word and ruminate upon it voraciously. And as a result of my action, I burst forth in joy and rejoicing as the authority of God is evident in every facet of my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
