DON'T TURN AWAY FROM THE WORD

4/30/2025

“God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land” (Psalm 68:6).

Psalm 68:6 says that “… the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” The Hebrew word that's translated rebellious in this text is the word, sarar, and it means to turn away. So the text could also read: those who turn away from speaking and doing God's Word will dwell in a dry land. The phrase "dry land" connotes the experience of one that is not living in the light of all that God's grace has made available to him or her in Christ Jesus. James puts it this way: “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”  Notice here that it is the practitioner of the Word that lives out the blessing. Although every child of God is blessed according to Ephesians 1:3, not every child of God is living the blessed life. So, James was saying here that it is in the doing of the Word that we experience the blessing that we have received from the Father. For example, the Word says that by the stripes of Jesus we were healed, yet many Christians are sick and broken. So, the key to living in the fullness of the blessing is to live in the Word. This unlocks all that is yours in  Christ Jesus.

This is why I always say, “Study the Word and settle for the Word.” And don't do so with your senses. Study with your spirit and educate your mind because God's Word will never make sense to your senses.  And until you receive it with your spirit, it will not produce what it talks about in your life. As a new creation, God has given you all things richly to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17). Believe it!  Confess it! And walk in that reality. There is nothing that you require to live a flamboyant life characterized by grace that was not included in your salvation. David could not have said it better. In Psalm 23:1 MSG, David said, “God, my shepherd! I don’t need a thing.” This ought to be your mindset. Declare out loud, “I am loaded with prosperity and wisdom; I lack nothing. I walk in favor and health today.” Hallelujah! Your outward circumstances may or may not correspond with what you are saying, but don't stop saying it. And if it doesn't correspond, you should be compelled to confess the Word all the more. Someone may even deride you for not being a “realist.” But don’t stop seeding your life and that situation with the Word. Jesus said, “you shall have whatever you say.” So get rid of this “little jimmy” mentality that's full of “I am weak; I need help; I need this and I need that.” Wake up to your place in Christ and recognize the Holy Spirit as your Helper. Psalm 46:1 AMP declares, “God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable to temptation], a very present and well-proved help in trouble.”

Confessing words that do not line up with God's Word is rebellion.  Imagine a Christian praying, “O Lord, I am a terrible sinner. My life is miserable; I need grace. Please give me peace, joy because my life is full of ups and downs. I am unworthy of your love and attention. I know I don’t deserve anything I have asked for. But please just do it this last time and I will not trouble you again. I ask for Christ’s sake. Amen.” Such a prayer is rebellious and in opposition to all that the Word says about the one that is in Christ. I can assure you that such prayer will not be heard in heaven because it is rebellious to God’s WORD.

Saints, there is nothing that delights the Father's heart and stirs you up for victory and excellence like speaking forth the Word in fellowship with Him. Jesus has paid the ultimate price for you and now it is up to you to live it out loud. So, let nothing trouble you because you are a victor. Hallelujah!

Faith-Filled Confession

I am an offspring of the Word. Therefore, I do not experience defeat; not in my health, finances or anything else for that matter. Eternal life is at work in me. I am loaded with prosperity and wisdom and I lack nothing. I walk in favor and health today, in Jesus' name, Amen.

Pray Points

  1. Thank the Lord profusely for His word of grace for us in the coming month. Declare that we will experience every blessing of God's Word as will be released by our man God throughout the month of May; and our lives will be lifted to higher planes as the Lord has predetermined (Ps 84:11; Acts 20:32,)

  2. Pray for our partners and residents, that an indescribable hunger for souls is stirred in them continually resulting to the salvation of more souls in the Month of May (Acts 4:29-31)

  3. Intercede for our residents of GHC across the ministry, that they remain unshakeable in the face of contrary condition.

  4. Thank the Lord for your victory of demons and adverse situations today.
