DON’T BE A HINDRANCE

4/25/2026

“If I… have faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” — 1 Corinthians 13:2

One of the greatest dangers to your spiritual growth is comparison. It is subtle, yet destructive. The enemy uses it to shift your focus from God’s purpose for your life to what others are doing.

But hear this clearly: someone else’s success is not your failure.

When you see others prospering, rising, or being recognized, it should not discourage you—it should inspire you. It is proof that God is at work, and what He has done for one, He is able to do for another. At the same time, when someone is struggling, your response should not be judgment, but love—expressed through prayer and support.

Comparison breeds envy. Envy opens the door to strife. And where there is strife, growth is hindered.

Scripture makes it plain that comparing ourselves with others is not wisdom. It leads to competition, criticism, and division—all of which work against the Spirit of God. When believers begin to compete with one another, the focus shifts from purpose to pride, and from love to self.

This is not the way of Christ.

Jesus taught that love is the true evidence of discipleship. Not gifts, not achievements, not visibility—but love. Your love for others is what reveals Christ to the world.

John understood this when he said, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” That is the posture of a heart that is aligned with God—one that celebrates others, serves freely, and finds joy in the progress of others.

Psalm 133 shows us that unity attracts the blessing of God. When there is harmony, the anointing flows. But where there is division and competition, the flow is restricted.

So guard your heart.

Refuse comparison. Reject envy. Celebrate others intentionally. Be quick to encourage, quick to support, and slow to judge.

Don’t allow yourself to become a hindrance to what God is doing—either in your life or in the lives of others.

Instead, be a vessel that promotes unity, love, and growth.

Because in God’s Kingdom, love is what makes everything work.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession:

I walk in love and unity. I refuse comparison and envy. I celebrate the success of others and gladly support them. I am a vessel of peace, and through me, the love of Christ is revealed. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
