“Be wise in the way you act toward those who are outside [the Christian faith]. Make the most of your opportunities” (Colossians 4:5 GWT).
Just a few days ago, the lord said, son “I have released grace and favor on my children for planet shaking testimony. If they will allow it to flow, their nation will not contain their testimonies.” Then He went to say, one thing that will hinder them this season is their treatment of others. In other words, the way we deal with others today or tomorrow is connected to our advancement. Hence, dealing with people in a mean spirited way will undoubtedly hinder your advancement.
To begin with, you are the light of the world. You are not like the rest of the world who eat anger as food and drink bitterness as water. Participating in any form of gossip about your boss, roommate, colleague, or anyone else for that matter is the surest way to frustrate this grace of God. Yes, people will be mean and hateful but you are to live above that terror of hatred and divisiveness if you must advance. You can’t let their demeaning and judgmental spirit get to you.
Just in case you are looking for a reason to continue to walk in strife with that person or group of people who have been mean and dismissive of you? There is no reason whatsoever because God forbids it. I have often said that a divisive man or woman will never experience the flow of the supernatural. His or her experience would be characterized by pain, disappointments and misery. It makes no difference if he/she is born again or not. The bible says in Proverbs 6:16-19, “These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, an heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaks lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” If you notice, all of these deal with how you deal with others. The scripture says that Papa God is appalled by such personality and character. The bible says, “Do not entertain an accusation against an elder, except on the testimony of two or three witnesses” (1 Timothy 5:19). And if the accusation turns out to be true, do not publish it. Let it end with you. Seek godly ways to restore such individual back to faith. Don’t assume the role of a spiritual detective. Let the love of Christ in you absolve the wrong of others.
Don’t be hasty with your words; choose your words wisely. You don’t have to participate in every conversation. And if you must speak, speak life! Don’t speak the frustration that is out there. Don’t try to fit in; stand out as the light of the world. In the sixth verse of the fourth chapter of the book of Colossians, the bible says, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
Be the advantage in the lives of others who are hurting. Defuse every tense situation with your wholesome words. Let your attitude depict that of Christ. Proverbs 15:1 says, “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” So be mindful of this: your attitude has a lot to do when it comes to your advancement.
God Bless You!
Faith Filled Confession:
I function by God’s wisdom in my dealings with people. I am a channel of love to all around me. I refuse to walk in bitterness, hate and unforgiveness. I am a peace maker. Today, I yield my tongue to the use of the Holy Spirit. My words are seasoned with salt. I have the tongue of the learned. I am a dispenser of grace today. In Jesus name. Amen.
