CONCERNING THE SPIRITUAL: THE VALUE OF ATTENTION

09/05/2023

“Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant…”(1 Corinthians 12:1)

Just as attention has become the newest gold mine for brands in this world, it has always been of immense value to the world of spirits. Interestingly, your spiritual net worth is determined by your attention.

Daniel 11:32 is very instructive of this. It says, “Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Notice what the scriptures say here: “Those who do wickedly against the covenant…”

Who are those who do wickedly against the covenant? Well, the subordinate clause “…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits…” tells us who they are not. Those who do wickedly are those who do not know their God. The word “know” used in Daniel 11:32 is akin to knowledge derived from experience, and to know by experience implies an attentiveness to details. You know your God in this instance by paying Him utmost attention.

Therefore, those who do wickedly against the covenant are those who fail to pay attention to it. These people will talk a big game, and that’s all they’ll be able to do. On the other hand, those who experientially know their God. They know His ways and acts because of the attention they have paid Him through the years shall be strong and do. Again, notice the italicized “great exploits” that the translators inserted to modify the “doings” of those who know their God.

The general idea is that those who pay attention to God and His word will know Him experientially, be strong, and be able to execute big things. Their words and efforts will be backed by the full weight of the Kingdom of God.

This is why the enemy will attack your desire and ability to focus on God and His word. He will program distractions ahead and during your prayer and Bible study times to keep you a perpetual speaker of empty words with no accomplishments. Your job is to do James 4:7 every time an urge to divert your attention during your prayer and Bible study times occurs. James 4:7 says, “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Giving God your undivided attention is a frontier of spiritual warfare, and ignorance of this weapon will cost you big if you don’t check the enemy’s ploy to divert your attention from God and His word.

Win today! God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I acknowledge and refuse the enemy’s strategies to bait me away from attending to God during prayer and Bible study times. I am wise unto salvation, and I bring about a significant change in my output and results by reason of the depth of attention I give to my God. Hallelujah!

Prayer Point

Act 10:38 says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”

Isaiah 33:24 (NIV) says, “No one living in Zion will say, ”I am ill…”

Pray fervidly for your family’s safety, progress, and well-being. Declare the name of the Lord over them.

Pray for Christians experiencing various health challenges; that their faith be strengthened, and that the reality of divine health, which we have in Christ, would become their consciousness and vital experience.

Declare that everywhere they are, they’re raised up healthy and strong, serving the Lord unhindered. Amen.
