CONCERNING THE SPIRITUAL: SLEEP AS A WEAPON OF THE ENEMY

09/06/2023

"Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant…" (1 Corinthians 12:1)

Sleep is very healthy for the body and the mind. The Bible declares in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, To sit up late, To eat the bread of sorrows; For so He gives His beloved sleep." In essence, God gives His children the capacity to fall asleep. Hallelujah! I perceive an addiction to sleep medication just broke off someone reading this devotional. Hear me, God gives you sleep. Just acknowledge the sleep as a gift and thank the Lord for it. Oh, glory to God! Sleep apneas are also being deleted right now in the name of Jesus.

Proverbs 3:24 says, "When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet." In the spiritual, sleep can also be a weapon targeted at the flesh to rob you of critical victories in certain circumstances. This is why the moment some Christians try to pray or study the Bible, sleep is projected at them, and they start to feel sleepy or even sleep off in the process of engaging in prayer or Bible study. It's also why a well-rested person can suddenly start sleeping in the middle of a life-changing service.

Now, one may be tired from a hard day's work and need to rest, which is good. But when you are willing and able to pray or study the Bible but sleep comes and disrupts your flow successfully, it's a sign that your flesh has become stronger than your spirit. And you need to remedy the problem by fasting.

In Matthew 26:37-40 we see the robbery of Peter's convictions in Jesus through sleep when they ought to have been praying. "And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me." He went a little farther and, fell on His face, and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?" Notice that the Master scolded Peter in particular and not the others.

In the realm of the Spirit, something was happening to which Peter was not aware. In Luke 22: 31-22, we learn why Peter ought not to have been sleeping: "And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."

There are times you should not be asleep. Otherwise, you will lose out on important decisions in the spiritual. But our enemy would do everything to get you to sleep. Jesus hinted at this when He said, "But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way" (Matthew 13:25).

Your responsibility is to watch and pray so that in the window of tests in that realm, you receive your due and avert the things that are not due to you. The Lord would not have you ignorant of this anymore.

God bless you

Faith-Filled Confession

I receive wisdom to operate in the supernatural. I am sensitive to knowing when to be asleep and when to keep watch. By my God, I leap over every obstacle, and my salvation is common knowledge in the spiritual. realm. Hallelujah

Prayer Point:

Pray that more and more people will adopt our devotional as their tool for personal Christian development.

Pray that the light of Christ's glorious Gospel through the Grace Daily Devotional will continue to shine with increased intensity in our city and country.

Declare that signs and wonders will be a common phenomenon in the lives of those who have adopted it as their personal development tool, and through them; the message will spread until the knowledge of the Glory of our God covers the earth as the water covers the sea. Habakkuk 2:14 – For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

We pray for increase in gospel activities, especially through our ministry; we declare that evil is completely overturned, as sinners pour through these and many other avenues into the Kingdom of God.
