“You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Christ is your life. When He appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
— Colossians 3:3–4
It is vital that you understand what truly happened the moment you confessed the Lordship of Jesus Christ. At that very moment, you were born again. Heaven, earth, and hell all took notice. You did far more than recite a prayer—the Scriptures declare that a spiritual translation took place. You were transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God (Colossians 1:13).
This was not a mere refurbishment of the old you. It was not God taking a “filthy wretch” and covering it with righteousness. No—the old you died, and a brand-new creation was born. The former life ended, and a new species of being that had never existed before came into being: the righteousness of God in Christ. Hallelujah! This is why Scripture boldly declares, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Our opening text says something extraordinary: Christ is your life. Pause and meditate on that truth. This means that as a believer, your life is no longer sourced from earthly lineage. You are no longer defined by natural bloodlines that are subject to sickness, defeat, and limitation. Your spiritual DNA traces back to Christ Himself. Glory to God!
If you truly grasped the magnitude of what happened when you were born again, you would soar in life. It also means that generational curses, hereditary sicknesses, and sinful tendencies no longer have legal authority over you. Scripture says you were “born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:13). Therefore, whatever plagued past generations has no claim on you. Christ is your life, and the life of God now flows through you.
Consider this: a dog gives birth to a dog because it only has a dog life to give; a cat gives birth to a cat because it carries a cat life. Likewise, when God gives birth, He gives His own life. That is why Scripture declares, “I said, ‘You are gods; you are all sons of the Most High’” (Psalm 82:6). God reproduces Himself. You share His life and nature.
Child of God, this is who you are. Refuse any message—religious or otherwise—that contradicts what God’s Word has declared about you. Reject any experience that denies your victorious life in Christ. You were born to rule and reign in life. Christ is your life.
Confess it daily. Live it boldly. Walk consciously in the Christ-life, because you have been divinely wired for it.
God bless you.
