CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. Acts 17:11
To say that believers can sometimes be among the most gullible people I have ever met is an understatement. Why? Because many have never taken the time to study the Bible for themselves. They readily embrace and repeat statements simply because they hear other Christians say them.
For example, I heard someone recount how a man prayed, “Lord, hear our prayers”
The first thought that came to my mind was, When did that become a prayer point for the believer? Don't we already have God's assurance concerning prayer in Mark 11:24 and 1 John 5:14?
Mark 11:24 teaches us to believe that we have received what we ask for in prayer, while 1 John 5:14 assures us that when we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
Child of God, never accept a popular Christian saying simply because it is widely used. No matter how common a belief, expression, or practice may be among Christians, take the time to examine it in the light of God's Word.
The Word of God—not popular opinion, religious traditions, or familiar expressions—must be the standard by which we evaluate what we believe and practice.
I made up my mind a long time ago that I would believe God's Word for myself, and I challenge you to do the same!
Psalm 12:6 says, “And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.”
What a powerful picture of the purity, perfection, and reliability of God's Word! His Word is trustworthy. It does not need the approval of popular opinion to be true, and it does not lose its authority because our circumstances appear to contradict it.
If the Word says you are blessed, stake your life on it! It may not look or feel as though you are blessed, but if God's Word says you are, then you are. Your circumstances do not have the authority to rewrite what God has said about you.
It makes no difference if everyone around you—even an angel says otherwise. God's Word remains the final authority. If God says you are blessed, believe it, confess it, and live in the consciousness of that truth. Praise God!
So, be a student of the Word. Search the Scriptures. Establish your convictions on what God has said, not merely on what people say about Him or about you.
As Acts 17:11 commends the Bereans, receive the Word eagerly and examine the Scriptures for yourself.
Don't just repeat it. Don't just believe it because someone said it. Check it out for yourself!
Praise God!
FAITH-FILLED CONFESSION
I am a child of God, and my faith is firmly anchored in His infallible Word. I refuse to be tossed about by popular opinions, religious expressions, or teachings that are not established in Scripture. I have a personal conviction of God's Word, and I believe what He says about me regardless of what I see, feel, or hear.
