CHARGE AGAINST THE OPPOSITION

09/20/2024

"When the Philistine moved closer in order to attack, David quickly ran toward the opposing battle line to attack the Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:48).

Life, as it's today, will not hand you your desire without resistance. For this reason, we must all surge forward against the country tides of life with the Word on our lips. Take David as an example; a young guy who had no prior military experience and was too young to be listed in the army. Yet one thing was certain on his mind, "if God be for us, who or what can be against us?" In the mind of David, anything or anyone that came against him was coming against Jehovah. He said to Saul, "Your servant has been keeping his father's sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it, and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned on me, I seized it by its hair, struck it, and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine" (1 Samuel 34-37). What an audacity of faith! What a conviction! David never said he was hoping that God would do something. No! Not David! He said this uncircumcised Philistine would be like one of them (the lion and the bear). In other words, the day Goliath decided to wage war against Israel was the day his end was pronounced.

You would have thought that Goliath's stature would cause him to retreat. Yet the bible says, "As the Philistine moved closer in order to attack, David quickly ran toward the opposing battle line to attack the Philistine" (1 Samuel 17:48). In other words, David leaned toward the adversary. And as he did, I believe he continued to confess like the woman with the issue of blood did in Mark 5,  David kept saying "you come against me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I against to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day will the Lord deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you, and take your head from you, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord's, and He will give you into our hands" (1 Samuel 17:45-47).

Although David had some sticks in his hands, a sling, and some stones in his bag, his confidence was not in any of those. He said, "I come against you in the name of the Lord of hosts." So what gave David the audacity to lean toward the adversary like he did? It was his faith in the name of the Lord and in the word of promise given to Israel by Papa God. That name is Jesus--the name by which you have been surnamed. Paul said, "and whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him" (Colossians 3:17). In other words, use the name as an instrument. Better still, use the name of Jesus as a plowing instrument to level whatever obstacles may be before you. Use the name to beat down barriers, unlock closed doors, and re-program systems that have been working against you.

Don't quiver in the face of adversities; you have the advantage IN CHRIST JESUS. Stand tall and declare to hell, "is that all you've got?" Greater is He that lives in me than all of hell and this world combined." Hallelujah! Be bold to declare like David, "I come against you in the name of the Lord of Host." It doesn't matter if it's a health issue or a financial crisis that you are faced with; use the name against it and watch it bow before you.

You are victorious!

Faith-filled Confession:

The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid? I know who I am. Therefore, adversities are bread for me. They are my springboard to the next level of glory and prosperity. And I declare that the light of Christ in me repels every element of hell everywhere I go today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
