"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7 KJV).
God's way is God's Word, and God's Word is God's will. One of the advantages of fellowship is that the Holy Spirit brings us to the knowledge of His ways. It is important for us as God's people to know that God has His way of doing things--He does nothing outside of His Word. And for us to actualize anything, it must be in accordance with His Word. Psalm 103:7 says, "He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel." Knowing God's ways helps us live in the fullness of the glorious life that the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus purchased for us.
In our opening verse, the Lord shows us how to access our inheritance as His offspring. He says, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). You must realize that prayer is of no essence without answers. God did not ask us to pray so He could keep us busy. On the contrary, His call to prayer is so that we can get answers. John Wesley once said, "God does nothing but in answer to prayer." And we are ordained to receive answers to our prayers.
Notice the elimination of any form of ambiguity from the opening text. The Lord gives us His Word as the condition for getting answers to prayers. 1 John 5:14 says, "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us: Notice that the strength of that scripture is in "according to His will." And God's will is found in His Word.
Beloved, it matters what you say in your prayers. What you say determines whether or not your prayers will be heard. And if God doesn't hear your prayer, how can you receive an answer? He said, "If My Word abides in you, then you shall ask, and it shall be done." In other words, praying God's Word is His recipe for getting your prayers answered.
Look at it this way. Suppose you are a lawyer defending a client accused of murder in a courtroom; what do you think guarantees that your client will go free? Would it not be based on your ability to, from the Constitution, prove his innocence before the Judge? No lawyer goes to court to tell a judge of his relationship with the accused. Every lawyer takes with him words from the Constitution to prove his case beyond all reasonable doubt. The Word is our Constitution, and God is the Judge. And to move Him to grant your request, there is no substitute for speaking from His Constitution as you make your request. This is why you must feed fat on God's Word.
God bless you.
Faith Filled Confession
Father, I thank you for Your Word. For by it, I lay hold on my inheritance in Christ. Thank you for granting me a life of victory and success today. I win on all counts in Jesus' name. Hallelujah!!
Prayer of Salvation
If you are not yet born again, I invite you to make Jesus Christ the Lord of your life by saying these words of prayer:
"Oh Lord God, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word says, "…that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved". I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe Jesus died for me and that he was buried and raised from the dead. Right now, I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord of my life. I receive by faith eternal life into my spirit. Thank You, Lord, for saving my soul. I now have Christ dwelling in me. I am saved, I am born again, I am a new creation.
Hallelujah!
Congratulations! You are now a child of God. Welcome to this great family!
