A TREATISE ON TITHING

11/11/2024

"And he [Melchizedek]  blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all." (Genesis 14:19-20)

For a while, there have been arguments in Christendom about tithing in different circles. And many sleights of doctrine have been touted at Christians to unsettle them from their identity as the seed of Abraham. It is God's  desire "that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting (Ephesians 4:14).

In aligning ourselves with this desire of the King, it is important to understand what tithing is and whether or not a Christian should pay it. First of all, tithing is giving a tenth part of everything with which  the Lord blesses you.  Hebrews 7:6-7 says, "But Melchizedek, who was not a descendant of Levi, collected a tenth from Abraham. And Melchizedek placed a blessing upon Abraham, the one who had already received the promises of God. And without question, the person who has the power to give a blessing is greater than the one who is blessed."

Just as the cashier issues you a receipt after you must have paid for the groceries at the store, Abraham and his seed, issue God a tithe to declare Him their blesser and to declare themselves the blessed.

After realizing his identity as the seed of Abraham, the Bible says, "Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God. And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You” (Genesis 28: 20-22). On the premise of the Abrahamic  blessing, Jacob committed to tithing.

If you are wondering why you should give your tithe, the Bible says, “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise”( Galatians 3:27-29). Under the terms of the relationship between God and your father Abraham, you ought not to struggle to pay your mortgage. As a matter of fact, you ought not to even have a mortgage. The term of the contract between God and Abraham, which also includes you as his seed, entails a blessing beyond your wildest imagination. Your tithing is like the identity card that you present in the spirit realm that you are the seed of Abraham the Blessed.

Tithing is also an act of faith that you do to show that you qualify to walk in the blessing as Abraham did. The Bible says, "And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. (Galatians 3:8-9). Since you have been blessed as Abraham was, your tithing is a statement to rebellious spirits that oppose your Abrahamic wealth status.

Let no one deceive you. To the Christian, tithing is spiritual. It is not just an activity you do out of routine. It is the expression of your faith and identity as the seed of Abraham.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a tither. I am the seed of Abraham. I live in my supernatural place of unfathomable prosperity. Hallelujah
