“As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby…” (1 Peter 2:2)
As believers, one of the most vital foundations for growth is desire. There can be no true growth in God without an unshakable hunger for His Word. Just as a baby craves milk to survive and grow, the child of God must crave the Word to thrive spiritually.
Our theme scripture doesn’t make it optional—it commands us to desire the Word. Why? Because the Word is God’s tool for transformation, maturity, and manifestation. Without it, spiritual stagnation sets in.
Paul puts it this way: “It is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13). That “will” includes the holy desire for the Word. When you respond to that desire by feeding on Scripture, you position yourself to be an answer to the cries of your generation.
This is why Paul also exhorts: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). Spiritual maturity is measured by how skillfully you handle the Word—using it to shape your own life and to release life into others.
The destination is clear: “The earnest expectation of creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God” (Romans 8:19). Creation is groaning for your manifestation, and that manifestation hinges on your growth. The more you feed on the Word, the more you rise into your rightful place of power and authority. Some things you’ve been praying about will simply fall away when the Word grows big inside you.
Beloved, God is stirring up a new hunger in you today. May this zeal for the Word overtake you, driving you deeper into Scripture and higher in your walk with Him. The days ahead are glorious, for God has ushered you into a fresh dimension of desire for His Word. Hallelujah!
Faith-Filled Confession
The Word of God is my consuming passion. I crave it, feed on it, and grow by it. Through the Word, I am becoming strong, skillful, and steadfast in the things of God. My life is being shaped for manifestation, and creation will see the glory of God through me. Praise God!
